Good for you not being a quack like the most of the rest of your profession.

Do you have any ideas about how to rid chiropractic of its unscientific and unethical practices?

Kudos to you for being a rational, evidence based chiropractors. 95% of your profession gives people like you a bad name.

Do you have any thoughts about how to improve chiropractic education to rid the field of its pervasive quackery? Or is it too endemic to be saved?

when u get adjusted it increases circulation in the area, and usually before adjusting, the muscles around the area are tense from trying to keep everything aligned (which was just corrected). now that its no longer out of place, the muscles relax and the acid that builds up (the burn or soreness) damages the muscles just like if u had just worked out. the best remedy is a good jog or a good massage. and by good massage i mean tissue massage, not that “let me relax and sleep” crap

is it normal to have some soreness/pain after one of these manipulations? how long should it last, i had one a month ago and never went back to the chiro, it was a friday and i had a horrible weekend, i don’t know like something went wrong, my hip and my back on the right side still hurt specially when I lift something, will it ever heal? how do i know if he is a subluxation doctor? by the way i didn’t go in there with lower back problems…

thank you ive seen some of these types of vid but could never hear a difference in what they were saying. more of the difference between a massage or actual help thanx

This looks like a slow motion physical assault video. BEware folks, Chiropractors are “vandals” who attack your spine.

I am a rehab based chiro. Unfortunately, there are a lot of quacks out there. Do your research first! Adjustments have been proven to decrease lumbar back pain (this is randomized clinical trials) also an adjustment of the spine excluding the SI is not specific at all! Reference is Stu Mcgill and Ross. See a chiro who is rehab based and not a subluxation based doctor. It boils my blood when theses types of chirps call themselves doctors.

Very true, there is no evidence whatsoever supporting the existance of the chiropractic subluxation. It is a complete farce.

Unfortunately, chiropractors have the flaw of using anectdotal evidence to support their viewpoints, not using blinded randomized controlled trials, and not using researched treatments. If they do use research, they simply reject them if they don’t support their views. Lastly, the research done is poor at best, usually without giving detailed descriptions of the treatment and false physiological rationales. Can a chiro adjustment viewpoint be supported by imaging? No.therefore chiros reject it

as a chiropractor, it is very difficult to believe that there is no difference between global manipulation and specific segmental adjustment. from a clinician’s perspective, i see a big changes in people’s health ranging from ezema, asthma, and of course, LBPs. and conversely, i saw people getting traumatized with manipulation. there is always 2 sides of the story. i read those journals too. i dont think the PT, MD understand specific chiropractic adjustment very well. that is DCs our fault.

More like JOURNALS….plural……Spine, Journal of Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy and Journal of Manipulative Physiological Therapeutics

  20. MRUPE82 on January 2nd, 2010 11:19 pm

CORRECTION!!!! This is not a SPECIFIC technique….research has refuted that claim and manipulation of SI and L/S regions all affect each other without one more specific than the other. The chicago roll technique and lumbar manipulation can be interchanged without differences in joints affected and have similar patient outcomes.
