chiropractor
Curious asked:

I am interested in becoming a Chiropractor. (This may be one of those questions where only a Chiropractor should answer.) And I was wondering about what are some of the things I should think about when doing research about the field and while I am considering this.

Being a chiropractor is no easy work. It is a very manual profession and we are the only doctors that actually put hands on patients. The work can be very taxing on your body and hands (from manual therapy, massage, and adjusting patients). Many patients will come to you as a last resort seeking pain relief. Chiropractors treat pain conditions from head to toe ranging from joints, muscles, bones, nerves, etc… so you will not be bored in this particular profession if you enjoy freeing people from pain. One day you may be treating a shoulder, the next could be headaches, and the next could be low back pain. You will need to decide which school to attend. There are 18 chiropractic schools across the U.S. and 2 in Canada. Some schools are more medically oriented while others are more philosophy based. You also need to consider which state you intend to practice as the scope of practice varies from state to state. All 50 states license chiropractors and some states allow acupuncture, some don’t, etc…If you truly enjoy working with your hands to provide natural pain relief to injured patients without the use of drugs or surgery, then this profession may be right for you.
